Hailing from Besançon, France, SHOOT THE SINGERS is an indie rock quartet that subtly blends 90s alt-rock, grunge, punk, pop, noise, and even psych-rock. Somewhere between Nada Surf, Pavement, Rival Schools, Soundgarden, Second Rate, Sonic Youth, Handsome, The Lemonheads, Sebadoh, Pearl Jam… without forgetting a few 70s influences from the likes of The Who, Neil Young, or The Beatles.
Shoot The Singers is, in a way, an irreverent response to all those monstrous bands that 90s teenagers got hit with full force!
Straddling pop culture, counterculture, and arrogant non-culture, the band embraces irony, which fuels their world and lyrics—consistently portraying human behavior and all its flaws.
Their first two albums, A Good Singer Is a Dead Singer and Left Lane Loser, received excellent reviews in NewNoise Mag, W-Fenec, Records Are Better Than People, Podcast Now It’s Dark, and more, leading the band to perform regularly in France, Switzerland, and Belgium.
